My new portfolio

Wow!  Here it is.  One full month of hard work getting this thing ready.  I handed it over yesterday to the Minnesota Book Arts Center.  I am applying for their  Jerome Mentorship Grant.

There are 5 whole made portfolios out of ivory canvas with a hand embroidered hand felted wool pocket on the front.  The pocket contains my signature.

Renegade, here I come….

So, I’ve been going crazy making inventory for the Renegade Craft fair on September 13-14 in Chicago.  I’m pretty happy though with the way this season’s look is shaping up.   Very collegiate.   If any of you live or will be in the Chicago area on that date, make sure you swing by my booth.   I will have woolen bags, laptop cozies, and hats.

My first woodcut.

Today I have been working on finishing up my very first woodcut which is an image of honeycomb.  After hours of carving and three blisters, I finished it.  This morning I bought the most beautiful Japanese kozo tissue paper that the image will be printed on.  I  have drawn, in olive colored ink, a honeybee in the corner of the paper.  I think I will print an edition of 12.img_0258.JPG

My newest discovery.  Her name is mina and she designs her own textiles and from that has her own clothing and furniture line out of Japan.  Maybe someday I can be like her.  Sigh.photo2.jpgphoto1.jpg
